I played this game on the Nintendo DS, and I would have to say it is one of the most addictive games I’ve played in years. It may look like another Match 3 clone, but there are tons of layers of strategy to the battles. This is also a full role-playing game with a nice story, character development and more.

If you’ve only played casual games up to this point, you are in for a really big surprise. This is more of a hardcore game with casual game trappings. Don’t let this scare you off, however. This game is the perfect way to move into more in-depth games. Playing this game is a rewarding experience!

Now for some strategy hints for those new to role-playing games…. You have to level up. This means fight lots of extra battles to strengthen your character. Don’t just rush to the next story point if you aren’t ready. Just backtrack to old areas with easier opponents and fight them again.

A lot of people say this game is too hard, but it isn’t if you fight those extra battles. Also, you have to learn how to use your spells. Use them at the right times and you can win just about any battle. If you think you can simply beat the stronger opponents by your superior Bejeweled skills, you won’t. Level up and use spells a lot!
